.Elegbeleye Praises GTI For Commitment To NPL –

By Tunde Oyedele –

The Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) Super 6 Draw is now holding at GTI Headquarters, Tinubu Street, Marina in Lagos.

Rivers United Coach Stanley Eguma and Coach Finidi George of Enyimba International of Aba are among the tacticians who arrived the venue early today, Friday, 2nd June, 2023.

Vice Chairman of Lobi Stars of Makurdi Dominic Iorfa, Charles Ihemekpen of Bendel Insurance and Adedoyin were in attendance from the participating clubs.

Just before the Draws were held, the IMC unveiled a new logo to usher in the Nigeria Premier League (NPL). The Chairman of Interim Management Committee (IMC) of NPFL Elegbeleye, in his opening speech, congratulated the clubs that made the cut.

Elegbeleye said NPFL is now partially free from undue advantage, where teams wanted to win home games at all cost and intimidation of the referees, adding; “The IMC pays referees’ indemnities a day before their NPFL matches, courtesy GTI. That’s why we are recording such away victories and sometimes draws”.

Elegbeleye, however commended GTI for the company’s commitment to laying a strong foundation and transparent football ecosystem in the country using The Nigeria Football Fund (TNFF) as the vehicle in achieving this laudable dream.

The IMC boss revealed that the NPL Championship Playoffs will see the best of Nigerian league football on display as the six teams will trade tackles in a round-robin format.

Corroborating Elegbeleye’s statement, the GMD of GTI Group, Abubakar Lawal, said the company was employing every best international practice to give Nigerian football a desirable breakthrough.

“GTI is committing lots of material and financial resources towards ensuring that the NPL enjoys robust financial support in order to become self-sustaining.
