Following last year’s inclusion, national wheelchair tennis players have been assured of participating at next month’s Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN Senior Tennis Open, eyeonthesports.com can confirm.
This assurance was made by the President of Nigeria Tennis Federation, NTF, Engr. Sani Ndanusa, who doubles as the Nigeria Olympic Committee, NOC President.
He also said that wheelchair tennis shall feature prominently during every national tennis event.
“We shall have wheelchair tennis action during this year’s CBN Open just the way we had it last year. We have spoken with the sponsors and they have agreed to include wheelchair tennis just the same way we had it in 2013.
“The federation is also striving to have it anytime there is a national tournament because that seems to be the best way to get tournaments for the players at the moment”.
Ndanusa further disclosed that the NTF is yet to get the prize money for the disabled players until the sponsors make it public.
“We shall still meet with CBN over the prize money for wheelchair tennis, but they can be rest assured that the tournament will accommodate them”, he noted.
