Nigeria’s representatives in the CAF Confederation Cup, Warri Wolves are set to advance to the next round of the continental tournament, as they need just a draw in the second leg of their first round match against Union Douala of Cameroon in Warri on Sunday, 9 March, 2014.
Wolves recorded a 3-2 away win over the Cameroonians in the first leg of the first round qualifying match last Saturday.
It would be recalled that Musa Najare scored a 12th minute opener when he slotted home a pass from Stanley Dimgba in the first leg match. The early lead did not last as Ngoula Patrick equalised about three minutes after the first goal.
Oghenekaro Etebo then drilled in a volley in the 35th minute to give the visitors a 2-1 lead at the break, but Douala drew level in the 80th minute when substitute Mengaptone Ivan headed in a corner.
Wolves finished up the match brilliantly with an 83rd minute winner via Bartholomew Ibenegbu, with the former Heartland play maker scoring from close range.
The Delta State-owned club now have a firm advantage going into the second leg. Wolves’ Secretary General, Lawrence Omorwho, who received a delegation of the Douala team in Lagos from Cameroon on Friday, told eyeonthesports.com that their visitors are already in Warri and that the hosts are ready for the match.
