It was a hard fought victory for Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) at the Adamasingba Stadium, Ibadan, as the Oluyole Warriors came from behind to defeat Nasarawa United 2-1 in a Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) Week 26 match on Sunday.
The encounter, played under a heavy downpour was dominated by the visiting team that scored the first goal in the 17th minute through Bashir Abdulraman.
Abdulraman netted the goal via a pull out from Tayo Fabiyi as the visitors claimed a comfortable 1-0 lead at the end of the first half.
On resumption of play for the second half, the home team pushed forward to mount pressure on their opponents, and the effort yielded a penalty kick when Ibrahim Salau was hacked down in the box.
The resultant penalty kick was perfectly tucked in by defender Promise Ebiaku.
Shooting Stars however put an icing on the cake on the day as substitute Izu Joseph nodded home the match winner during added time.
The goal was not just a relief for 3SC players and their club management, the stands erupted with jubilation as the home fans shouted ‘Up Sooting’ on top of their voices and hugged themselves.
But, Nasarawa United players and their officials, who lost the weekend’s match on the road, bowed their heads as they walked out of the Stadium.
