Shooting Hammer Pillars 4-0 In Ibadan

By Kayode Ayeni –

Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) hammered Kano Pillars 4-0 in a Match Day 33 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) in Ibadan on Sunday, 28 August, 2016.

After observing a minute silence for the late Akwa United supporter who died while travelling for their rescheduled NPFL match against Enyimba FC in Port Harcourt, the encounter began on a fast note with both teams teams sizing each other up.

The Oluyole Warriors were close to scoring in the 2nd minute through Ibrahim Ajani whose effort went wide.

After some misses, the home side kept piling pressure on their visitors until Ifeagwu Ojukwu broke through the Pillars’ defence and scored a classic opening goal, his first for 3SC this season.

After the 8th minute opening goal, it was 3SC all the way as Nojeem Olukokun also got close to scoring in the 22nd minute for Shooting Stars.

3SC captain Seun Akinyemi started a beautiful build up and connected Man of the Match, Ifeagwu Ojukwu who bulldozed his way into Pillars’ defence to set up Ibrahim Ajani for the second goal in the 29th minute.

However a 42nd minute injury to Kano Pillars Rabiu Shehu saved the away team from conceding more goals in the opening half as play was halted, reducing the tempo of the tie.

On resumption of play, 3SC started from where they left it in the first half, forcing a save from Pillars goalkeeper Shehu Mohammad in the 49th minute.

Immediately after the save, Shooting Stars scored their 3rd goal of the game in the 49th through Sunday Adetunji assisted by Ibrahim Ajani.

The almost filled to capacity Stadium erupted with joy as Pillars were outclassed by 3SC though with numerous misses.

The ruthless 3SC side was on song again with the fourth goal in the 64th minute, with chief tormentor, Ifeagwu Ojukwu feeding Sunday Adetunji for his brace of the match.

After conceding four goals Pillars changed their style of play and were playing for time, looking up to the referee to save end the game to avoid further embarrassment.
