The Police has resolved to continue to strengthen partnership with Anambra State Government to improve the quality of security in the state.
The newly posted Assistant Inspector General (AIG), of Police, in-charge of Zone 13, Umar Musa Muri, said this while on a courtesy visit to Gov. Willie Obiano at the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia.
AIG Muri, in-charge of Anambra and Enugu, was accompanied by his principal officers to the Governor’s Lodge.
He said Anambra had been in the forefront of providing security apparatus to the Nigerian Police.
The AIG said that his visit was to familiarise himself with the Governor, to assure him of providing adequate security in the state.
According to him, no security agent will work effectively without the collaborative effort of the Governor.
“Gov. Obiano has been supportive in providing solid security facilities that have assisted in maintaining peace and order. Recently, the Governor provided us with transformer, utility vehicles to boost our effective service delivery.
“We will continue our partnership with the Government in order to ensure an update in the security situation in the state. Anambra State Gubernatorial election is fast approaching; we will put in our best to ensure free, fair and credible elections.’’
Gov. Obiano promised not to relent in procuring sophisticated security equipment that would ensure prompt response to security issues.
He emphasized the need to continue to experience peace and tranquility, especially during the upcoming elections.
“Be focused; do not be derailed from the discharge of your duties,’’ Obiano stressed.
