Pinnick Praises LMC For Improved Premier League

Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, President Amaju Pinnick has commended the efforts being made by the League Management Company to turn around the fortunes of Nigeria’s domestic football.
Speaking on the UK–based BEN Television’s ABC Sports programme, anchored by Chris Obukwelu, Pinnick reeled off the number of away wins already recorded in the new football season as testament to the success of processes being put in place by the NFF and the LMC to sanitize the top tier of the Nigeria League.
“The League Management Company has been there for a few years now, managing the Premier League, and I must confess they have been doing a marvelous job. They have done much to put so many things right and change a lof of things.
“For me, the LMC is a blessing to Nigeria football. After only five weeks in the season, we have had five away wins in the top flight. This is a prove that the LMC is working, and also that the capacity–enhancing programmes of the NFF is helping as well.”
Teams like Enyimba FC, Wikki Tourists, Abia Warriors and Heartland FC have won matches away from home this season, the most interesting being the 1-0 defeat of League leaders Heartland FC by Abia Warriors at the Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri on Wednesday, 22 April.
“In previous years, it was incontestable for a ‘small team’ like Abia Warriors to defeat Heartland FC in Owerri. Things are changing for the better. I commend the LMC and its chairman, Mr. Shehu Dikko and the NFF is encouraging the LMC to keep working hard for the good of the Nigeria game.”
The Nigeria Federation has already trained 30 of the country’s top referees at educational programmes in the United Kingdom, with a final batch of 20 set to leave for the same programme in the next couple of weeks.
