Barely seven years of nuptial bliss, a 40-year-old Pastor, Bayo Johnson, has approached an Igando Customary Court in Lagos to dissolve his marriage, citing wife’s infidelity.
Johnson said that his wife, Grace, who always claimed that his pastoral job was not lucrative engages in extra-marital affair.
“My wife sleeps around with men, she has no shame or respect for her marital status at all, I have caught her severally with different men
“During the last Valentine day, a friend called to inform me that he saw my wife and a man suspected to be her lover at the beach wearing the same shirt and jean trousers playing love game.
“He snapped picture unknown to them and sent it to me through Whatsapp just to convince me that the information he gave me was true.
“Before Grace left home that February 14, she told me that she was going to visit her sister not knowing that it was her lover she went to see,” he said
He accused his wife of assaulting him.
“My wife is a disgrace to my pastoral calling and ministry, she once tore my cloth into shreds in the presence of my congregation during a church service.
“I can’t ever forget how she hit my head with an axe during our last argument,” he added.
He showed the court scars on his body to prove his allegation, saying they were tell-tale signs of his wife’s frequent beating.
He said that his wife starved him of sex that whenever he wanted to made love to her, it is always one excuse or the other.
“Grace denies me sex, she always tell me she was menstruating or say she was tired or have headache. My body is not a stick, stone or rod,” the estranged pastor said.
The petitioner told the court that his wife lack care for him and the children.
“I cook for our children, I wash their clothes. Grace is never available to cater for us. She is fond of returning home late without caring about the children and I,” Johnson said.
He begged the court to end the marriage that the love he once had for her had faded.
“There was no more affection existing in our marriage and home again, therefore, I want this court to separate us for me to enjoy peace in life,” he said.
The respondent, Grace, denied all the allegations. She said that she denied her husband sex because he used to pour anointing oil inside her vaginal whenever he wanted to make love to her.
“I denied him sex because he poured oil into my private part and I am always uncomfortable for days. Also, he wants to try all styles of sex with me which I strongly disagree,” she said.
The 37-year-old trader also accused her husband of infidelity.
“My husband told me to go to my village in December 2016 for Christmas. After the festive period, he called me to say I should not come to Lagos yet, because he wanted to pay for another accommodation for us.
“When it was almost a month after he called me and I didn’t hear anything from him again, I came to Lagos without telling him.
“But to my amazement, I found another woman in the house,” the respondent said.
She said that she was not promiscuous that the men her husband claimed she was dating were her customers.
The mother of two said that she never assaulted her husband that the scars he showed in court as evidence were on his body before she married him.
“I never beat nor tear his clothes, he was the one that always beat me on any slight provocation. As for the scars on his body, I know nothing about it as I met them on his body before I married him,” she said.
The respondent opposed the dissolution of their marriage, she told the court not to grant her husband’s wish.
The court president, Mr Adegboyega Omilola, after listening to the couple adjourned the case until May 30 for further hearing.
