Former Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Oyo State, Alhaji Mukaila Lamidi a.k.a Auxiliary and four others were on Monday sentenced to six years imprisonment.
Eyeonthenews.com gathered that the former union ladder was convicted along with Saheed Kareem, Abu Kareem, Kazeem Kayode (now late) and Taiwo Tijani by state High Court sitting in Ibadan for murder.
However, counsel to the first accused, Barrister Olaleken Ojo said he had received instructions from his client to proceed to Appeal Court Immediately.
The convicts were said to have killed one Adekunle Oladipupo on 2nd March, 2014 at Ajimobi Motor Park, Iwo road in Ibadan.
Justice Eni Esan, while delivering the judgement, held that the prosecution charged the accused persons on a three-count charge of conspiracy, murder and attempted murder.
The judge noted that, the prosecution witness (1), Akeem Agbaje in his evidence told the Court that he was beside Adekunle Oladipupo on the day when the accused stormed the garage in a Peugeot 604 belonging to Ahlaji Mukaila Lamidi, and two other Micra vehicles and started shooting sporadically and eventually the bullet hit the deceased and he died, while he, Akeem Agbaje suffered serious injury.
