Ogenyi Rues Lobi’s Crash In Akure

Three fantastic goals, two in first half and one in the second saw Sunshine Stars claim all three points against Lobi Stars midweek at Akure township Stadium and Coach Evans Ogenyi admitted his side never showed ambition to get something out of the fixture.
Big forward, Dele Olorundare waited only 58 seconds to hit a free kick that fired Sunshine Stars into an early lead which Ogenyi was to blame for their poor showing which saw his side drop three spots to 14th place on the log.
“Overall, we may not have played well to give enough fight but then I must also accept that the early goal cost us the match”, Ogenyi lamented. He also claimed that what little fight his boys tried to muster was thwarted by calls by match officials.
Lobi Stars had arrived Akure hoping to reenact the good form they enjoyed in the abandoned game at Omoku by hosts, Nembe City but were jolted from the blast of the Center Referee, Patrick Nwoye’s whistle when Olorundare struck.
On 34th minute, Tunde Adeniji doubled the lead with yet another feisty strike and Lobi’s bad day was completed by Prince Aggrey three minutes into the second half.
Ogenyi looked back at the encounter and rued to www.lmc-ng.org in Akure, “Yes, they did play better than us but they (officials) prevented my players from moving and that affected the fluid game we planned to play in Akure”.
But the result could be considered flattering to Ogenyi and his Lobi Stars wards as the home side could have registered more goals on the day if not for the wastefulness of Adeniji, Solomon Kwambe and Dayo Ojo.
Adeniji on one instance lofted high a sitter when he came face-to-face with Lobi Stars goalkeeper, Daniel Aysaka inside the six-yard on the 26th minute. Solomon Kwambe and Dayo Ojo took turns to also waste similar begging opportunities at times when fans were already shouting out with joy but on each occasion, the ball missed target.
The score line highlighted once again the defensive frailties of Lobi Stars that has conceded 36 goals in 30 games this season.
