Oba Sijuwade Ooni Of Ife Dies At 85

Reports late Tuesday night say the Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuwade, is dead. He died at the age of 85 .

The causes of his death was not immediately known as at press time, but, the news of the demise of the revered monarch, according to sources in Osun State, has thrown the state, especially his town, into confusion and mourning.

Oba Sijuade became the 50th traditional ruler, Ooni of Ife on 6 December, 1980, taking the regnal name Olubuse II.

His corronation was attended by the Emir of Kano, Oba of Benin, Amayanabo of Opobo and Olu of Warri, as well as by representatives of the Queen of England.
