NRFF Begins Plans For Africa Cup 15s In Morocco

The Nigeria Rugby Football Federation’s technical team has commenced plans for the Africa Cup 15s which is billed for July, 2016.

According to Technical Director; Fasimoye Olatunji, “Rugby Africa informed us last week about meeting in Morocco to finalize plans for the event. The program is not yet finalized but a final decision should be made at their next executive meeting later this month.

“However, the new proposed date for the African Cup Tournament is 9-17 July”.

According to the federation, following last year’s improvement in the performances at the Olympics qualifiers in South Africa after early arrival and camping in South Africa, they are looking to replicate by same camping the Black Stallions for 10 days in Rabat, Morocco before the tournament, which they believe will allow a proper blend of the local and foreign based players.

“We are waiting on Rugby Africa to know the actual date so we can inform all concerned and intensify our plans for the Tournament” says Fasimoye.

The Black Stallions will face Morocco, Cameroon, and Mauritius among other teams in the division in their quest to gain promotion into Africa Cup 1B as part of their plans to qualify for the 2019 Rugby World Cup.
