NOC Tips President-Elect Buhari To Revamp Sports

The Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) has tipped President-Elect General Mohammadu Buhari (retd) to revamp the sporting fortunes of Nigeria at major international and continental sports championships.
In a congratulatory message to the former Head of State, the President of the NOC, Habu Gumel, while extending the warm compliments of the board and members of the Olympic family in Nigeria, said it was a privilege and honour to warmly congratulate “your Excellency on your remarkable victory at the Presidential elections held on Saturday, 28th March.
“Your ultimate triumph at the hotly contested polls is no doubt a reward for your resilience and passion for Nigeria, which was widely acknowledged by the electorates nationwide.
“We in the Olympic Movement rejoice with Mr President-Elect on this joyous occasion, which is no doubt a progressive landmark for our democracy.
“We are therefore quite optimistic that your Excellency would bring to bear your wealth of experience in governance to steer the ship of this nation to greater heights, both economically, politically and sports-wise”.
Gumel said that by being the next President of Nigeria, Buhari automatically becomes the Grand Patron of the NOC.
He noted that the NOC was looking forward to meeting with Buhari after his swearing-in to further update him on the objectives of the Olympic Movement and his role as Grand Patron.
