The Nigeria Olympic Committee, NOC, has congratulated the newly-appointed Minister of Sports and Chairman, National Sports Commission, Dr. Tamuno Danagogo.
Danagogo, a lawyer, PHD holder, was sworn into office Wednesday by President Goodluck Jonathan, GCFR, to replace Alhaji Bolaji Abdullahi.
Speaking on the new Minister, who hails from Rivers State, President of NOC, Engr. Sani M. Ndanusa welcomed him to his new office and prayed that the recent string of successes recorded in Nigerian sports scene continues, and even blossom, during Dr. Danagogo’s reign.
“It is my special pleasure to, on behalf of the entire Nigeria Olympic family, congratulate you on your fresh appointment and wish you immense success in the discharge of your duties as the Minister of Sports and Chairman, National Sports Commission.
“Our sports have been experiencing a rebirth in the last three years and we pray that it continues and gets better during your tenure”, said Ndanusa, who added that he was sure that the new Sports Minister will take Nigerian sports to the next level given his pedigree as Local Government boss, where he spearheaded grassroots sports development in River State.
“Reading from your rich C.V. I believe that our sports will improve because of your love for grassroots sports development, which is the cradle of sports development. I believe that if we get it right at the grassroots level, our sports will witness an unprecedented boom in terms of positive results”, said Ndanusa.
He added that the NOC was looking forward to having a seamless and cordial working relationship with the NSC Chairman, who he admonished to follow through with the transformational agenda of President Jonathan.
