NNPC/Shell Cup Quarter Finals Set Ibadan Aglow

All roads lead to Ibadan this weekend, as the 2015 NNPC/Shell Cup showcases a football festival of the best youth footballers from 10 schools across the country.
Shola Akinwale, National Coordinator of the tournament disclosed that this is the first time in the 17-year history of the most coveted secondary schools football championship in Nigeria, that the 10 schools that qualified for the quarter finals will assemble in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, for a genuine feast of youth football.
According to Akinwale, this new format is being adopted as a bridge for the championship in response to the current political and security conditions in the country by the organizers, the Nigeria School Sports Federation, NSSF.
He said the over 200 students and their school officials will be housed within the military cantonment at Ojoo Barracks, where all the matches will also take place on Saturday and Sunday, 16-17 May.
The schools that have qualified for this quarter finals are from Adamawa, Edo, Enugu, Imo, Kano, Katsina, Nassarawa, Ogun, Rivers, and Sokoto States.
The top four teams that qualify from Ibadan will move immediately to Lagos to participate in a playing and coaching clinic that will be conducted by Dutch Coaches from Feynoord Football Club and Academy, Holland.
“This clinic will precede the semi final and final matches taking place in Lagos on Friday and Sunday, 22 and 24 May, 2015, at the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Surulere, Lagos”, Akinwale said.
