Nigeria National League New Season Kicks Off 2 May

The Executive Board of the Nigerian National League, NNL, and Clubs Chairmen on Wednesday rose from their Annual Congress in Abuja with the resolution to kick start the new season on Saturday, 2 May, 2015.
In a Ten Point communique released after the congress at the prestigious Ajuji Hotel in Gudu District, Abuja, the house unanimously expressed its appreciation to the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, for its support to the successful hosting of the 2014 Annual Congress of the League and pledged loyalty to leadership of the NFF.
The Congress also appreciated the contribution received from the League Management Company, LMC, towards the payment of indemnities of clubs while looking forward to a better working relationship in the new season.
After a review of the current situation of things, the Congress endorsed a new kick-off date for the 2014/2015 league season from 18 April to 2 May, 2015.
It also approved the abridged League system for the 2014/2015 league season as against the traditional format.
The Congress mandated the NNL Board to approach the NFF for the release of substantial part of the Glo funds due to it to enable the NNL pay match indemnities.
It also unanimously opposed the readmission of any team sponsored by Zamfara state government because of the existing five years ban on it arising from Zamfara United FC’s infamous withdrawal from the 2013/2014 season.
It gave Ranch Bees FC one week to withdraw the court case instituted against the NFF and NNL or face sanctions.
The Congress passed a vote of confidence on the leadership of the Board of the NNL led by High Chief Emeka Inyama.
The Congress welcomed the new partnership with NTA Sports 24 for the proposed coverage of the league matches in the new season, and the communiqué was signed by Board Member, Emmanuel Zira.
