Nigeria FA Drills Refs As New Season Begins

A one-day seminar for Nigeria’s top referees, who will officiate in the 2014/2015 Professional Football League season commencing on Saturday, holds on Thursday at the FIFA Goal Project, National Stadium in Abuja.
The seminar, organized by the Nigeria Football Federation, comes on the heels of a two-day seminar for referee assessors also at the same venue, and also at the instance of the football body.
Expected at the seminar, which objective is to review amendment of Laws of the Game and focus on offside rule, match analysis and the introduction of referee assessors as well as dwell on expectations from the referees in the new season, are about 150 referees and assistant referees, and about 100 others invited from the National League sector.
Secretary of the NFF Referees Committee, Sani Zubairu, said on Wednesday that the seminar will also involve examination for the referees, as there has not been anything of such in the past three years.
