Nigeria Beat Ethiopia In CHAN Friendly

Nigeria’s Super Eagles defeated the Walya Antelopes of Ethiopia 2-1 in an international friendly match played at the Abuja National Stadium on Saturday, 4 January, 2014.
The tune-up match for the 2014 African Nations Championship, CHAN, slated for South Africa, saw
Ifeanyi Ede of Enyimba International of Aba and Rangers player, Ugonna Uzochukwu scoring for the Nigerian team.
The visitors managed to reduce the tally in the second half, when goalkeeper Chigozie Agbim, who doubles as skipper of the Home-Based Eagles fumbled and allowed Ethiopia an easy goal.
Both Nigeria and Ethiopia used the friendly match to put their teams in shape for the African Nations Championship beginning on 11 January.
The Eagles, who are scheduled to jet out of the country on Tuesday, 7 January to South Africa, will play in Group A against hosts, South Africa, Mali and Mozambique, while Ethiopia will battle Ghana, Congo and Libya in Group C of the CHAN tournament.
Meanwhile, Ethiopia coach, Sewnet Bishaw said his team have learnt some lessons from their encounter with the Nigerian side, while his Nigerian counterpart, Coach Stephen Keshi said: “I’m very impressed with the performance of the team especially on tactical play. If I get this kind of performance in all our games in CHAN, I will be satisfied”.
