Nasarawa United defeated Enyimba of Aba 1-0 to book a place in the final of 2016 Nigeria Federation Cup final.
The second semi final of this year’s Federation Cup played at Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Adamasingba in Ibadan on Sunday, started on a very fast tempo with Nasarawa United taking the initiatives forcing Enyimba’s backline to commit blunders, thus responsible for a yellow card issued to John Uche of Enyimba.
Joshua Osadiaye wasted a golden oppurtunity in the 17th minute with only the keeper at his mercy.
Immediately after Enyimba’s miss, Abdulrasheed Abdulrahman of Nasarawa United was pushed down in the box resulting to a penalty kick. The spot kick saw with Seun Sogbesan sending Theophilus Afelokhai of the peoples elephant the wrong way for the opening goal of the encounter.In the 45th minute Tayo Fabiyi also missed from close range with only the keeper to beat to end the half.
Second half resumes with Enyimba on the backfoot again struggling to cope with the pace of the Nasarawa boys.After a series of missed chances by Solid Miners Enyimba’s John Uche was sent off after being booked for the second time in the 86th minute of the game,leaving Enyimba to chase the game throughout the remaining minutes of the one sided encounter.
The encounter witnessed a large turnout among which are former Director of Sports in Nigeria Bolaji Ojo Oba, former NFF Secretary General, Taiwo Ogunjobi, 2nd Vice President, NFF and Chairman of LMC, Ahlaji Shehu Dikko.
