In appreciation of her achievement at the last Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, where Odunayo Adekuoroye won a gold medal in the wrestling event, the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries, MFM, hosted the athlete on Sunday at the Church Headquarters in Yaba, Lagos.
Speaking during the service, MFM General Overseer, Dr Daniel Olukoya told the congregation that Odunayo, who is a member of the Akure branch of the Church, will be honoured for lifting the name of the Church and Nigeria, but shied away from disclosing what kind of reward awaits the Ondo State-born wrestler.
“This young woman has done MFM proud by winning a gold medal in wrestling for Nigeria. Her testimony also confirms how great our God is when you put all your trust in Him.
“On behalf of my wife and I, Odunayo will be rewarded but that is confidential, I won’t say what it would be in the open but we will make her happy. Join me in praying for her to achieve more glories in her chosen career”, concluded Dr Olukoya.
An excited Odunayo told members of the congregation that she owes her gold medal feat at the Commonwealth Games to God who used Dr Olukoya to prove how awesome He is.
“The God that we serve in MFM is a true God. My coach and I fasted all through the Games and I defeated all my opponents enroute the finals with ease but I suddenly became nervous the night before the final against my Indian opponent, and i told my coach, Purity Akuh who assured me that the God of Dr Olukoya will visit me.
“In my sleep that night, I dreamt that I won a bronze medal and I wasn’t happy, I told my coach who asked me to go back to sleep that God will visit me again. And I did as he advised. In my sleep, Dr Olukoya appeared to me and the moment I recognized him, I started crying, he didn’t ask me what the problem was but told me I should stop crying that all will be fine.
“With renewed confidence, I stepped out for the fight singing and praising God. And to the glory of God, the final fight turned out to be the easiest for me, I defeated my Indian opponent in less than one minute and won the gold medal for Nigeria, the God of Dr Olukoya did it for me”, revealed Odunayo who danced and sang after her testimony with tears of joy in her eyes, which sent the congregation into a frenzy.
Meanwhile, Odunayo has promised that with adequate preparations she is going to win a gold medal for Nigeria and Dr Olukoya at the 2016 Olympics billed for Rio, Brazil.
