Man United Lose To Olympiakos

Manchester United’s calamitous season hit a new low on Tuesday evening when they were defeated 2-0 by Olympiakos in a UEFA Champions League last 16, first leg tie in Athens.
The Red Devils went into the match as clear favourites to advance from the two-legged tie, but they will now need to make a massive comeback at Old Trafford in three weeks’ time if they are to progress into the quarter final.
United simply never got going and committed continuous errors in midfield and defence, allowing the hosts to dominate play. David De Gea was by far the busier of the two goalkeepers.
Olympiakos opened the scoring seven minutes before half time through Alejandro Dominguez, who redirected a shot from Giannis Maniatis to such an extent that De Gea was left completely wrong-footed.
The Greek side doubled their advantage 10 minutes into the second half when winger Joel Campbell (on loan from Arsenal) struck a superb curling shot into the bottom corner of the net from more than 20 metres out.
Other than a late chance for Robin van Persie which the Dutch striker blazed over the crossbar, United created almost nothing in attack and hardly looked capable of bagging a precious away goal.
