Late Gusau Honoured At League Games

A minute silence was observed at all Glo Premier League games at the weekend in honour of the former Vice Chairman of the defunct Nigeria Football League, NFL, Alhaji Shehu Garba Gusau who died on Friday.
The League Management Company, LMC, issued the directive to all match officials and also mandated the clubs to have their players tie a black arm band for the games on Saturday and Sunday.
A statement from the office of the Chairman of the LMC, Hon. Nduka Irabor described the passing on of Alhaji Gusau as a loss to the sports family and said the minute silence observed before the games’ kicked-off last weekend was a befitting tribute to the man who served on the board that midwifed the formation of the Premier League in Nigeria.
“Alhaji Gusau is one of those who built the league and it is appropriate to honour him with a minute silence at all matches this weekend in recognition of his contributions to the modern league”, the statement noted.
The late Gusau served as the Vice Chairman of the Board of the NFL from 2006-2011 and was until his death, an Assistant Director in the National Sports Commission (NSC).
