Lagos Junior League Enters Week 17

Last weekend was rosy for Apapa Iganmu, as they shipped a record breaking 12 goals in a single game which has never been witnessed in the Lagos Junior League, LJL.
In that game Ifako Ijaiye were the team on the rampage and their week 17 opponents Ajeromi Ifelodun better buckle up on Sunday evening at the Alade Stadium.
Agege Giants still high for last weekend’s win over Apapa Golden Stars will play a struggling Itire Ikate side. The match earlier scheduled for Agege stadium has been moved to Alade Stadium due to crowd concerns.
The Star match of this weekend is an all-important match between LJL leaders Y.M.D Babes of Ojo and title contenders Surulere Sport City Fc. The title dynamics went to Ojo’s favour when Agege beat Apapa last week. But with a game at hand, victory for Surulere FC over OJO FC will see them go top of the League.
With only three games left till the end of the season, Ojo Babes have the potential to lift the title, but they have Surulere Fc as a major obstacle.
The Ojo Babes have garnered a formidable record this season conceding only 8 goals and scoring a whopping 40 goals averaging 2.5 goals per match. Surulere Fc have had a slightly less elegant season but they certainly have the quality and experience to cause Ojo a huge upset at LASU Stadium on Sunday evening, venue of such the deciding encounter.
Meanwhile, League 1 of the LJL has never been this competitive. Orile Agege currently lead the pack but their weekend match against second-placed Egbe Idinmu is likely to define everything afterwards.
Ojodu Fc, Ibeju Lekki and Lekki FC have a mathematical chance of winning the title and a draw between the top two teams will be a good result for them.
