Reports say immediate past coach of the Super Eagles, Stephen Okechukwu Keshi has sued the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for defamation of character and wrongful dismissal.
Keshi’s action proved true to his word about suing the Federation over the decision of the body to terminate his contract prematurely.
It was gathered that the gaffer’s lawyer has written to the soccer governing body to inform them that the tactician has dragged them before Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS).
A source inside The Glasshouse confirmed to sportsDay on Thursday that they have indeed received the letter from Keshi’s lawyer, in which the coach is seeking damages for alleged falsehood from the NFF in order to bring him down and terminate his contract.
Although the source did not confirm when the letter was received or state a fixed date for commencement of hearing, it was learnt further that Keshi may also seek financial compensation for the damages he says the NFF of committed against him.
“It is true that Keshi has gone to CAS,” the source stated. “The letter from his lawyer has been received at the NFF and we are already working on our response.
“Among other things, Keshi is accusing the NFF of lying about his application for the job with Football Ivorien Federation and that his name was maligned in various dimensions as well.”
