.Arc Haruna Heads New Board, Emordi Retained As Technical Adviser –
Reports say the board of Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL champions, Kano Pillars has been sacked following the team’s disgraceful exit in this year’s CAF Champions League.
The news came in Monday afternoon, that the board headed by Abba Yola was given the boots due to Pillars’ poor runs in the continental championship.
Pillars, who won the elite league trophy in Nigeria last season, were sent packing in the first round of the continental competition by AS Vita of DR Congo last weekend.
Pillars defeated AS Vita 2-1 in Saturday’s return leg match at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano, but failed to overturn a 3-1 deficit they suffered in DR Congo last week, and lost out on 4-3 aggregate.
It would be recalled that Pillars won the NPL in 2011-2012 season in Nigeria, but crashed out in the same manner to AC Leopards of Congo Brazzaville in the first round of the CAF competition.
Meanwhile, it was gathered that the new board of directors of the club include Arc. Ibrahim Haruna as Chairman, Alhaji Garba Nuhu Danburan, Vice Chairman, Alhaji Aminu Dan Amo, Alhaji Lawan Adda’u, Alhaji Sabo Abdullahi Kofar Mata, Alhji Bashir Muazu, Alhaji Abubakar Naziru Aminu, Alhaji Kabiru Ali Dawaki, Alhaji Nasiru Garba Bichi and Alhaji Garba Umar to serve as members.
The new management committee of the board has Alhaji Umar Babangida Muhmad as General Manager, Kabiru Baleria as Team Manager, Salisu Yaro, General Coordinator, Okey Emordi, Technical Adviser, Dr. Ibn Garba Idris, Medical Officer, Rilwanu Idris Malikawa, Media Officer, Muhammad I Abba, Licensing Officer, CSP Shuaibu Bello, Chief Security Officer, Shehu Aliyu, Finance Officer, Habibu Zubairu, Kits Manager and Surajo Tudun Wada as Secretary.
Alhaji Shuaibu Gara, the SA to the state government on sports development, said that the state government has approved the payment of all outstanding liabilities of the club with the Corporate Affairs Commission.
