Kunle Ogunrombi, popularly known as K-Peace has been declared winner of the fifth edition of Nigerian Idol sponsored by Etisalat Nigeria over the weekend at the grand finale of the show held at Dream Studio, Omole Phase 1, Lagos.
His win has made him N7.5m richer and the proud owner of a brand new SUV car, as well as inking a deal with Universal Music Company.
K-Peace, who was well-loved and voted for by fans for his originality and infusion of Fuji music in his renditions, beat the first-runner up, Dolu to emerge the ultimate idol at the grand finale that was marked by glitz, glamour, and a lot of breath-taking performances.
The grand finale was the culmination of weeks of intense competition by 100 contestants until they were down to the final two. It also witnessed performances by the three resident judges, Dede Mabiaku, Yinka Davies and Darey, as well as International Nigerian singer, songwriter and recording artist, Asa, who mesmerised guests with songs from her chart-topping album, ‘Bed of Stone.’
Speaking at the event, Chief Marketing Officer, Etisalat Nigeria, Francesco Angelone stated that the company recognised Nigerian Idol as a veritable platform to identify, nurture and celebrate young talented Nigerians, hence their sponsorship.

This season, all the contestants have been amazing in their individual right and K-Peace particularly has been outstanding from the audition stage and we are glad that the voting public has crowned a winner deserving of his crown.’’
The man of the moment, K-Peace was apparently overjoyed at clinching the top prize and he had this to say, “I am overwhelmed getting to this stage today because I faced tougher and amazing talents, especially Dolu.
