Reports reaching eyeonthesports.com say the government of Jigawa State will roll out the red carpet on Saturday, 25 January, 2015 to honour it’s illustrious son and President of the Nigeria Olympic Committee, Engr Habu Gumel.
Tony Ubani, the Public Relations Officer, PRO of NOC hinted that the recognition, which holds at the NYSC Camp is being bestowed on Engr Gumel by His Excellency, Dr. Sule Lamido, the Executive Governor of Jigawa State.
According to Ubani, the honour is as a result of the giant strides that the astute administrator has made in Sports Administration (local and international) and Engineering practice in Nigeria.
In a letter signed by the Director of Protocol, Government House, Dutse, the Dinner in honour of Engr Gumel, who is also an Executive member of the International Olympic Committee, IOC, will start by 9p.m prompt.
Since coming back as President of NOC after a keenly-contested election in Asaba, Delta State, where he beat former President Engr Sani M. Ndanusa, Gumel had received congratulatory messages from international sporting bodies as well as stakeholders in Nigeria.
But in his usual characteristic manner, he has decided to allow his works speak for him. But for the honour coming from his own State, Gumel said that words were inadequate to express his joy.
