Why Iheanacho Won’t Play For Eagles -Keshi

Super Eagles Chief Coach, Stephen Keshi, has explained why Golden Eaglets forward, Kelechi Iheanacho will not play for the senior national team for now.
There were concerns that Iheanacho could be included in Nigeria’s squad to the Brazil 2014 FIFA World Cup, but Keshi has jettisoned such feelings, saying that the U-17 youngster needs to improve and grow through the ranks before he can play at the top level.
Keshi, while speaking an brilafm said: “Iheanacho must play for a top club where he would get regular playing time.
“He is yet to play for any big club, and does not have the right experience as a player, but Iheanacho is good and can improve by playing regularly for a club to be on top of his game”.
Although, Iheanacho’s father, James tried to justify why his son should be given a chance to play for the Eagles at Brazil 2014, Keshi insisted that the player still has a long way to go.
The coach explained that Iheanacho must grow through the ranks by featuring for the national U-20 team, Flying Eagles and possibly star for the U-23 Olympic team before he would be ripe to play for the Super Eagles.
