Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) were on the receiving end on Sunday when visiting Ifeanyi Ubah FC of Nnewi handed them three unreplied goals on Match Day 20 of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) in Ibadan.
The encounter, first match of the second stanza of the 2016/2017 NPFL seasaon, played at Adamasingba Stadium saw the visitors scoring from blast of the whistle as Godwin Obaje hit target in the first minute.
Sekal Peskal doubled the lead for Ifeanyi Ubah 16 minutes after while King Osanga put the match beyond the home side with the third goal in the 90th minute.
It was an evening that 3SC suffered their heaviest home defeat in the.
The one-sided match, watched by almost a capacity crowd started on a very pacy note with Ifeany Ubah getting the curtain raiser through Godwin Obaje after loss of concentration in 3SC’s defence line.
In the 7th minute, Sunday Faleye missed what could have been an equaliser from six yards out with only the goalkeeper at his mercy.
Again, against run of play, Ifeanyi Ubah increased the tally through Sekal Pescal after 3SC defenders failed to perform.
The visitors’ second goal brought out the best in the Oluyole Warriors, as they stepped up their game but the move onlyresulted in series of missed chances in the 17th and 20th minutes. The home side also missed a penalty kick in the 31st minute when Adebayo Ibrahim shot tamely into the waiting hands of goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa to end the first half with two goals in favour of the visitors.
The second half of the highly entertaining encounter was all Ifeanyi Ubah, with Sekal Peskal and Godwin Obaje becoming the tormentors of Shooting Stars.
Even, the introduction of 3SC’s talisman Ajani Ibrahim and Tolu Olaifa had little or no effect as the visitors continued their pressure on the home team.
Ifeanyi Ubah’s Bright Onyedikachi was sent off in the 33rd minute of the second half after receiving his second yellow card of the game.
However with just a minute to full time, King Osanga converted a beautifully taken free kick for the third goal of the game to further compound the woes of Shooting Stars.
Speaking after the encounter, a highly excited Ifeanyi Ubah coach Yaw Preko said the result was as a result of hard work.
He said his team actually underated 3SC during their first game in the first round of the league.
