.Lose To Orile Agege In Lagos Junior League 1 Clash –
The Lagos Junior League, LJL, League 1 recorded some interesting results last weekend, while the rescheduled Premier League match again opened the title race amongst the main contenders.
In League 1, table toppers Ibeju Lekki suffered a shocking home defeat in the hands of fellow title hopefuls; Orile Agege.
Orile Agege had fallen off the pace over the course of the season, but a spirited performance away from their comfort zone saw them snatching a 3-2 win over Ibeju Lekki Saturday evening.
Luckily, Ojodu Football Club took full advantage of Ibeju Lekki’s slip-up to rise to the top of the table. Although, it was not a joy ride for Ojodu as 7th placed Shomolu FC fought gallantly only to lose by a narrow margin of 1-0.
Ojodu’s Team Manager Abiodun Obafemi, MON, a former Nigerian International said he was delighted to see his team going to the top of the table. He promised that his team will remain there till end of the season.
Also, Egbe Idimu weathered the storm to defeat Eredo Tigers 3-2 at the Epe Centre to go level on points with Ibeju Lekki in their Sunday battle.
A brace from Tajudeen Adebayo could not save Bariga Bombers from a 3-2 defeat in the hands of Lekki Football Club, who rallied back after initially going down in the 19th minute.
In the Premier League Y.M.D Babes of Ojo opened up the title chase, as they came close to winning the match, but shared the points with Apapa, because they played with a man down for greater part of the second half.
The rescheduled Week 7 match saw Apapa Golden Stars as favourites but Ojo had other plans having taken the lead early in the match. The 1-1 draw however opened an opportunity for Surulere Sport City FC to go to the summit of the elite league, but they must beat Oshodi FC in their outstanding match.
Meanwhile, the Lagos Junior League, LJL, League 1 will enter its 13th week this week, with Ayobo Ipaja taking on Yaba at the Legacy pitch, Surulere on Wednesday evening. The other League 1 matches will take place during the weekend.
