Heartland Coach Rues NPL Title Miss

Chief Coach of Heartland Football Club of Owerri, Kelechi Emeteole is unhappy his team missed a chance to win this year’s Glo Nigeria Premier League, NPL title.

Emeteole, who joined the Naze Millionaires after calling it quits with El-Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri, says Heartland could have stood out amongst the top clubs in the NPL at the end of the season, but lost out because of their ‘slow start and the dropped points in some home matches’.
“We started the season on a wrong footing when our team lost cheap points in Owerri (at home), the veteran coach in the Nigerian league scene said.

Heartland lost 12 points at home, which Emeteole described as massive, “with that much points on the board, we would have toppled Kano Pillars on the log”, he said.

Meanwhile, Heartland’s rising youngster, Emmanuel Iwu, has sounded a stern note of warning to relegation-haunted Bayelsa United that there would be no favours for them when they clash in the last match of the season on Sunday.
