Govt. Takes Over Burnt Petrol Stations

Anambra State Government has taken over the two filling stations; Christee and Silver, that were gutted by fire on December 12 at the Savoy area of Onitsha.

Gov. Willie Obiano also ordered that any filling station with Gas discharge facility be sealed off.

The outbreak which started around 7 pm last Sunday, subsumed not less than five vehicles.

It was gathered that a Gas-laden tanker exploded and burst into flames while discharging its cooking gas in one of the filling stations.

When Gov. Obiano arrived at the scene, it was observed that the state’s fire service had quenched the fire, preventing it from affecting other nearby properties.

Reacting to the incident, the Governor sympathised with the owners of the stations and commended the efforts of security agencies and the Fire Service for their prompt intervention.
