Gbade Wins First NUGA Gold In Swimming

Gabde Okokofezibe of the University of Port-Harcourt on Monday won the first gold medal of the ongoing 24th edition of the NUGA Games at the Obafemi Awolowo, University, Ile-Ife.
Gabde hit gold in the women’s 200 metres backstroke swimming competition. The silver went to the 22-year-old Gabde’s twin sister, Doutimi, also from the University of Port-Harcourt.
As at press time on Monday, Uniport had raked in 10 gold and nine silver medals.
Team OAU’s female handball side on Monday defeated their counterparts from the Ekiti State University, EKSU with eight points to three, while the male handball team of the University of Benin, UNIBEN defeated Ladoke Akintola University, LAUTECH, with eight points to two.
Also, the University of Nigeria, UNN, male handball team defeated Team EKSU with 18 points to eight.
In football, Team OAU scraped a draw against the University of Calabar. Eyong Emmanuel had put UNICAL ahead in the 18th minute, while Olanrewaju Agboola equalised for OAU in the 75th minute.
The OAU team had relatively had an easy ride over the EKSU side 4-1 on Saturday.
Meanwhile, the Ebonyi State University, EBSU, defeated the OAU volleyball team 20-16, while the Kogi State University, KSU, spanked the female handball team of Olabisi Onabanjo University, OOU, Ago-Iwoye 18-0.
