Flamingos Qualify For Costa Rica 2014, As Sudan Withdraws

footballThe U-17 Women National Team, known as Flamingos, have been confirmed as one of Africa’s representatives at next year’s  FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup finals taking place in Costa Rica following the withdrawal of South Sudan from the qualifying race.
The Sudanese were to host the first leg of the qualifying fixture on the weekend of 1 – 3 November, but threw in the towel, making 2012 quarter finalists Nigeria the first African team to reach the finals that will be staged in four Costa Rican cities.
“It’s good that our team have qualified early. The Nigeria Football Federation will ensure the team start preparation early enough and very ready to do Nigeria proud,” stated NFF General Secretary, Barrister Musa Amadu.
The 2014 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup finals will be staged in San Jose, Alajuela, Liberia and Tibas.
