Enyimba FC of Aba are through to the semi final of the 2016 Nigeria Football Federation Cup.

The People’s Elephant edged out Rivers United, who abandoned the replay of the quarter final match, which was disrupted on Wednesday by heavy downpour at the mainbowl of Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Adamasingba in Ibadan.

The replay started on a very fast note with Enyimba scoring through Chinedu Chukwude in the 2nd minute of the remaining second half.

Enyimba continue mounting pressure on Rivers United defence, hitting the post in the process and made veteran goalkeeper Sunday Rotimi to make a couple of saves.

However in the 36th minute of the one sided encounter, the Centre Referee awarded a well deserved penalty to Enyimba FC, which made Rivers United to abandon the game.

Rivers United supporters tried to attack the match officials but the swift response of security personnel at the stadium brought the situation under control.
