.As Table Tennis Event Begins    

Reports reaching eyeonthesports.com say the table tennis event of the 2014 edition of the FCT chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, SWAN Week begins on Monday, 1 December at the Abuja National stadium.
In the day’s event, defending champion from Hot Fm, Micheal Obasi will be in action looking towards retaining the title he won at the last edition held in 2012, though,  there are new entrants who could give him a fight for the title, But, he remains the favorite.
Other participants at the Table Tennis event are: Cool FM’s Arafat Aliu, Silverbird’s Victor Ireole, Hycienth Umeh and jide Ogunleye of AIT, while NTA will parade Paul Atteh and Rotimi Ajilore. 
The others are Daily Trust’s Mike Oboh, News Agency of Nigeria, NAN’s Olawale Alabi, Joel Ajayi of Nigeria Mirror, Love Fm’s  Udeme George and Anthony Udoka of the Nigeria Pilot.
The defending champion, Obasi has however stated that he is the man to beat, as he is not afraid of any new player. He stressed that he has been training seriously towards retaining the title.
But Michael must be careful, because Victor Ireole, Hycienth Umeh and  Paul Atteh have also been training secretly.
Special feature of this year’s event is the introduction of the women categories of the table tennis event. 
The table tennis event will be concluded on Wednesday with top sporting dignitaries expected to be in attendance. That Wednesday, the Hon. Gbenga Elegbeleye-sponsored 5-Aside football event will also commence.
The 2014 edition of the FCT SWAN Week began last Thursday with the opening ceremony. There was also a Walking and Jogging exercises held on Saturday. The Week will be rounded up with a Gala and award nite at the Kanem Suite, Utako on Friday, 5 December.
