Falcons Hold Dikko Boys

Super Falcons continued their build up for the Africa Women Championship, AWC, qualifier against Rwanda with a 2-2 draw against Young Dikko International Soccer Academy Saturday evening in Abuja.
Falcons started the match, played at the FIFA Goal Project on a good note and missed three scoring chances in succession as Asisat Oshoala and Kafayat Ajani failed to convert after the keeper was beaten and Kafayat was put through by Asisat.
Ngozi Okobi broke the deadlock in the 5th minute when Asisat dribbled the defenders and put her through to tap the ball into the net.
Young Dikko boys scored the equaliser in the 11th minute when their attacker scored a screamer from the left flank to end the first stanza on that note.
The second half started on a bright note for Falcons as they continued mounting pressure on the boys. Falcons scored another second goal in the 65th but was disallowed by the referee.
Cecilia Nku took a good free kick which was parried by the goalkeeper but Anam Imoh failed to connect the rebound in the 70th minute.
The Dikko boys went ahead in the 87th minute while Falcons equalised on the dot of 90th minute, when Asisat was brought down in the box and Ngozi Ebere slotted in the penalty to make the final score 2-2.
“We will not be carried away by this result, the team is work in progress and we will continue to work on the tactical and technical play of the girls”, coach Edwin Okon said.
