Falcons Beat Siasia Boys

Super Falcons preparations for the Africa Women Championship, AWC, gathered momentum Thursday evening when they pipped Sia One Soccer Academy by a lone goal at the FIFA Goal Project Pitch inside the Abuja National Stadium.
The Coach Edwin Okon-tutored side started the game with high intensity putting their male counterparts under severe pressure, but could not let the pressure count as they lost some chances.
However, their persistence paid off in the 20th minute, when Ngozi Ebere converted a free kick from edge of the 18 yard box after a goal bound Asisat Oshoala was brought down.
Efforts made by both teams to score more goals was not fruitful as play was limited to the midfield until the interval.
The second half saw the Sia One Soccer Academy boys dictating the pace but the Super Falcons’ defence stood their ground repelling their pressure.
Sia One soccer Academy Co-ordinator and coach, Hassan Abdallahi commended Falcons for being able to beat his boys, stressing that the girls with little improvement will do the country proud.
“I have a feeling that these girls will get the job done in Namibia. The coaches must work on their speed, stamina and shooting to excel at the AWC”, stated the former Kano Pillars FC ace.
