Barely after three years of nuptial bliss, a 57-year-old clearing agent, Mr. Timothy Eze on Thursday, 12 January, 2017 approached an Igando Customary Court in a Lagos suburb to dissolve his marriage, citing wife’s infidelity, eyeonthenews.com reports.

Eze told the court that his wife, Chioma, with whom he had a son in their three-year-old marriage was promiscuous.

“My wife is a dog, she does not have taste as she allows any man to make love to her. I have caught her severally with her lovers.

“I once caught her sneaked out of our landlord’s flat early in the morning but she told me she was going to a vigil the previous night.

“I also caught her with our Community Development Association(CDA) chairman.
“There was also a day I returned from a trip, I discovered that my bed was shaking, I called a carpenter to come and repair it.
“But as we lifted the bed up, we saw several used tissue papers and condoms under the bed,” he said.
The petitioner said that his wife hid her ailment from him that he discovered after their marriage that his wife was HIV patient.
“My wife concealed her HIV status from me.I got to know when she was pregnant and I was invited to the hospital for test.
“HIV test was conducted on me and I was negative, I was told that my wife is positive that she had been on HIV drugs for the past six years that was even before I met her.

“I was surprise because my wife never told me that she was HIV positive,” he said. According to him, Chioma, had three previous children without his knowledge.

“My wife had three children from different men without my knowledge, her close friend let the cat out of the bag and told me the children my wife brought to stay with us are hers,” he said.

The petitioner urged the court to terminate the marriage as he could no longer continue to live with such a woman and that his life was at risk.

Chioma, 42, a trader, accepted the allegation that she was HIV carrier but denied other allegations.

“I am a HIV patient but I don’t know until when I was pregnant and a test was conducted,” she said. According to her, she adopted those children living with them from her brother.

The respondent said that she was not adulterous that she had been faithful to her marrital vow. Chioma said that her husband beats her over trivial issue that the scars on her body were as a result of his constant beating.

“He once stripped me naked in public and beat the hell out of me,” she said. She conceded to the dissolution of the marriage, saying she was also fed up with the union.

The President of the court, Mr. Adegboyega Omilola, ordered the estranged couple to come along with three of their relatives each for mediation.

He adjourned the case till February 7 for further hearing.
