There were some massive scores around the grounds in Thursday’s Europa League matches.
Manchester United won big in their first leg against St Etienne. Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored a hat-trick netting a deflected free kick, finishing a cross from Marcus Rashford, and putting away a late penalty.
The match saw brothers Paul and Florentin Pogba playing on opposite ends and it was Paul Pogba’s Man United who came out the 3-0 victor.
Schalke also scored three for a 3-0 win over POAK Thessaloniki. Goals came from Guido Burgstaller, Max Meyer, and from late substitute Klaas Jan Huntelaar, Tottenham were in Belgium for their 1-0 loss to Gent. Jeremy Perbet was the only one to find the back of the net during the 90 minutes.
Roma ran riot in Spain against Villareal. The visitors scored once in the first half before Edin Dzeko scored a hat-trick. The Italians will be at home for their second leg following the big 4-0 victory.
Lyon won big away as well in their 4-1 win over AZ Alkmaar. Alexandre Lacazette continued to impress by scoring a brace for his team.
The second legs of the Europa League knock outs will be played on February 22 and 23.
