Enyimba, Rangers To Tango In Unity Cup

Managements of the People’s Elephant, Enyimba International Football Club of Aba and Rangers International (Flying Antelopes) of Enugu would have a chance to test their players for the new season, when they join three other Nigeria Professional Football League clubs in the Sapele Unity Cup pre-season tournament.
It was gathered that Bayelsa United, Dolphins of Port Harcourt and Warri Wolves would also feature in the tournament put together for the top flight clubs, that will be joined by Coliphen Sports Academy, Atete FC and Ejele Academy for the pre-season tournament slated for Sapele Stadium from 26-30 November.
Project manager of the pre-season tournament, Joe Cole, said the Sapele Unity Cup will help the clubs stay in good physical condition for the 2013/14 season.
“The tournament is aimed at exposing the teams to grassroots competitions so that they can see some players which they can recruit for next season.
“There are three amateur teams in the competition. These five Premier League teams will surely see some players from there. “The competition will also help the teams to ascertain how ready they are for the start of a new season especially, Enyimba, Bayelsa and Warri Wolves who will play in the continental championships next year,” said Cole.
Cole, a former player of Dolphins, said the pre-season tournament will be sponsored by Honourable Micheal Diden, a commissioner with DESOPADEC. Enyimba won the first edition of the tournament last season.
