Enyimba Pip Wolves In Glo Super 4

By Tunde Oyedele/ Abuja –

Enyimba International of Aba on Monday, put their 2014-2015 Glo Nigeria Premier League, NPL Super 4 title dream back on track as they defeated Warri Wolves by a lone goal at Abuja national Stadium, eyeonthesports.com reports.
The match, which began at 1:00pm on a sunny day at the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, saw Enyimba scoring the lone goal in the 15th minute. Striker Ifeanyi George scored from the penalty spot, after Wolves’ Ogagotewho Oke handled the ball inside the box.
Ten minutes after the goal, Ikechukwu Ibenegbu of Wolves delivered a good corner kick straight to top striker Okafor Onyekachi, but he was too slow to slot home the ball, leaving Enyimba goalkeeper Moses Ocheje to make an easy catch.
The heat of the match was so high that Enyimba made a quick substitution in the 43rd minute; as Razak Aliyu came on for Uluocha.
The scoreline remained 1-0 in favour of Enyimba at the end of the first half and the result remained the same in the last stanza despite spirited moves by the Delta Emperors to at least force the People’s Elephant to a draw.
In the 51st minute, Ibenegbu found his way into Enyimba’s defence, side footed the ball but goalkeeper Ocheje was there to make a great save for the Coach Kadiri Ikhana side from Aba.
Etor Daniel’s free kick was going in unaided in the 65th minute when Wolves’ goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi parried the ball away into safety.
Goalkeeper Akpeyi denied Enyimba a second goal in the 75th minute as he blocked a one-on-one shot off the left foot of first half scorer, Ifeanyi George.
With about five minutes left on the watch, Ojo Mine rescued Wolves from another goal bound effort as he stretched full length to put the ball into touch inside the six yard.
Goalkeeper Ocheje, who was good throughout the encounter dived full length to stop a goal-bound free kick by Wolves.
Although, Ocheje, a former Sunshine Stars goalie suffered a minor injury when he overstretched himself to make the save, he was able to guard Enyimba, who lost their first match, to their first victory in the pre-season tournament organised by the League Management Company, LMC.
