Enyimba Dim Sunshine Stars

Etor Daniel and Markson Ojobo scored in either halves to give Enyimba International of Aba a valuable win over Sunshine Stars of Akure to push the Aba side four places up on the Glo Premier League log.
Etor got the opener when he volleyed home on the 13th minute after Sunshine Stars’ goalkeeper, Henry Ayodele had pushed Uwadiegwu’s ball from a cross into the winger’s path.
Cletus Itodo had a chance to repeat his feat of scoring against Enyimba in Aba this season but he skewed his effort wide after Chinedu Udorji’s poor clearance fell to him in the area.
Ojobo then sealed the game from the spot when Ebitogwa Jude handled the ball inside the box late in the game.
The win helped Enyimba leapfrog Sunshine Stars on the table, sending them to 6th and reducing the gap to leaders Kano Pillars to five points.
It also meant the Aba side returned to winning ways in the League having fired blanks in the last two attempts. For Sunshine Stars, it means they have failed to get anything in Aba after seven attempts.
The game was the first home fixture for newly hired Technical Adviser Kadiri Ikhana who is on a second tenure as Enyimba’s handler.
Enyimba had started brightly and could have been ahead on the 3rd minute when a quickly taken corner kick saw Raphael Boumsong send in a low cross that found Etor Daniel in the box. The winger turned and struck but his effort was straight at the keeper.
Etor made amends 10 minutes later when Uwadiegwu escaped down the left and sent in a cross. Ayodele pushed it out only for it to fall onto the path of Etor to volley in his first goal of the season.
He should have had a second 15 minutes later when he received a lovely ball from the effervescent Anaezemba, then danced his way through the defense and curled the ball to the top corner. A sprawling Ayodele went full stretch to push the ball over the upright.
Cletus Itodo then had his chance to get Sunshine back into the game when Chinedu Udorji’s error fed him the ball just inside the area but the Akure side’s new signing fluffed it, sending his effort wide.
