Ekiti United Finger Ref In Loss To 3SC

The management of Ekiti United has blamed center referee Adeyeye B.A from Lagos for awarding two questionable penalties for Shooting Stars Sports Club, 3SC, of Ibadan in a week 11 Nigeria National League, NNL, match played at the Adamasingba Stadium in Ibadan on Saturday.
The result dashed the hope of the coach Adewumi Moses-tutored side to secure their first away win in the ongoing National League this season.
Sylvanus Ebiaku’s two goals from the spot in each half of the encounter in the 36th and 87th minutes gave the Oluyole Warriors the needed victory to settle the contest between both clubs.
Ekiti United Secretary, Olowolafe Ayodeji said the center referee played the role of a spoiler in the match.
“We gave everything to the game and denied 3SC all efforts to score against us but they managed to score through two unexpected penalty kicks. We can’t do anything about that because we are helpless but it was shameful”, Ayodeji said.
He added: “Nigerian referees should allow the game to flow. Free and fair officiating is paramount to the development and progress of football in Nigeria.
“Referees should stop playing the role of spoilers in our football. However, our next game against MFM in Lagos will be a good opportunity for us to bounce back”.
Ayodeji said Ekiti United did not miss everything in Ibadan, he commended the players for their fighting spirit despite losing the encounter to 3SC.
