Eyeonthesports.com can report that the proposed Ekiti State Governor’s All Nigeria Tennis Open, slated for April, has been postponed indefinitely.
This much was disclosed by the Chairman, Organising Committee of the event, Mr. Yemi Owoseni during a brief chat with our correspondent recently.
Owoseni, who doubles as the Vice President of the Confederation of African Tennis, CAT for the Western region, said that the initial dates proposed for the event would have clashed with the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN Senior Open, hence the change of date.
“As things stand now, we shall have to move the tournament further because all the modalities are still being put together.
“Apart from that, the proposed dates for the event will clash with the CBN Open and because it is a national tournament, we cannot afford to have other players out of the event.
“Therefore, we are moving the date until the conclusion of the CBN Open”.
On the newly-chosen dates for the tournament, Owoseni informed that, “we shall have a meeting on Thursday to decide the new dates which shall be communicated to the media much later”.
The Ekiti Open will serve as a national ranking event when it finally makes it debut after the CBN Senior Open.
