Eaglets Whip KFA 2-0

Golden Eaglets’ coach Emmanuel Amuneke believed there are a lot of positives to take from the 2-0 victory over Kwara Football Academy, KFA, on Sunday.
“We are happy with the results despite the fact that this team is not yet the final article”, Amuneke said. “Our boys are beginning to assume responsibility and if we can improve on our marking ability, we would be
better”.
Two goals in each half by Kehinde Ayinde and Orji Okonkwo made the difference for the Golden Eaglets against the home team at the Kwara Stadium Complex in Ilorin.
Ayinde, who incidentally was recruited from KFA, scored Eaglets’ first goal in the 22nd minute when he glided the ball into the net following a poor clearance off a corner kick by Dauda Abdulganiyu.
The second goal in the 75th minute was also from a set piece when Okonkwo headed a corner kick straight into the far end of the post.
KFA complete with Raymond Japheth , a member of the Golden Eaglets that won the last FIFA U-17 World Cup in the UEA, were initially in control after Premier League’s referee, Isaac Bolatito signalled the start of the match.
Expectedly, the partisan home fans urged on the KFA boys but Eaglets were undeterred. Yet it was the U-17 team that squandered two successive free kicks in the 12th and 15th minute.
Both sides laboured for most of the second half until Okonkwo provided some moments of brilliance.
