.Enyimba Coach, Baraje May Drop Stars From CAF Champions League Match –
Coach of Enyimba International Football Club, Zakari Baraje is angry that two of their key players, Bright Esieme and Ifeanyi Ede are yet to report for club duties, eyeonthesports.com reports.
Esieme and Ede featured for the Super Eagles at this year’s African Nations Championship, CHAN, held in South Africa, but both players are yet to return to Aba to help the People’s Elephant, who begin their campaign in the 2014 CAF Champions League this Sunday, 9 February.
Baraje, who leads Enyimba against Ange de Notsé of Togo in a Confederation of African Football, CAF, Champions League first round match in Aba this weekend, said he may be forced to drop Esieme and Ede from the team if they fail to report within 24 hours.
Speaking in a live radio interview on Wednesday, Baraje said Enyimba are looking forward to a successful campaign in the continental football championship, but regretted the absence of the two players in camp.
“It is unfortunate that I have not heard anything from Bright and Ifeanyi, who were expected to join their teammates immediately after the CHAN tournament. They know that we have a Champions League match against the Togolese club but I have not seen or heard from them”, Coach Baraje said on brila fm.
The veteran coach, who will also lead Enyimba to challenge for the 2013/2014 Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL, title, said he does not know much about their Togolese opponents, Ange de Notsé but assured that the team would represent Nigeria well in the CAF competition this year.
Eyeonthesports.com reports that Nigeria’s other representatives in the Champions League, Kano Pillars are away to AS Vita of RDC this weekend.
