D’Tigers Off To B/Faso For FIBA Africa Qualifier

A contingent of players and officials of the Nigerian Senior Men’s national basketball team, the D’Tigers, will leave the country on Friday 13 March aboard ASKY Air from the Murtala Mohammed Airport, Lagos for the 1st leg of their FIBA Africa Basketball championship qualifiers in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.
According to a schedule released from FIBA Africa, the qualifier, which doubles as the qualifiers for the All African Games in Congo, Brazzerville later this year, will see the D’Tigers take on the Burkinabes on Monday 16 March before coming back home for the return leg on 25 March.
The team’s strength has however been boosted for the make or mar double header by the arrival of the foreign-based duo of Ejike Ugboaja, who remains the first and only Nigerian to be drafted by the NBA directly from the Nigerian Premier Basketball League in 2006, and veteran captain Olumide Oyedeji who currently stars for the London Lions in the UK.
The team and officials will however have a media chat with press men in Abuja Thursday evening before boarding the Asky Airline early Friday from Lagos.
