Depleted Dolphins Host Kwara United

DolphinsReports from the Garden City say as it was in the first round of the league, a much depleted Dolphins side will line up against Kwara United on Sunday at the Port Harcourt Liberation Stadium.

Victor Babayaro, who is nearing 300 appearances in all competitions with the team has been out with a groin injury since the game against Nembe City three weeks ago. Media Officer of the club, China Acheru says another high profile injury worry in the team is goalkeeper Austin Brown who has a sore knee and will certainly sit out Sunday’s game.

“Chidiebere Okolie is out with a shoulder injury and that means Ambrose Onyeama will likely start at left back position.

“Hassan Hussein’s waist hurts so bad he cannot play while Emeka Atuloma is out with a bout of malaria,” Acheru said. The media officer however added a bright side to the club’s injury concerns.

“We have resilient defender, Festus Austin as well as our joint top scorers this season, Ifeanyi Egwim and Fred Okwara both the match day squad.

“Emem Eduok and Omo Johnson are also in the match day squad so I am sure the coaches can make do with what they have on ground since injuries are part of the game.

“Besides, when we played in Ilorin against Kwara United, our team were so depleted that we had to take with us three rookies who had never before then played for the team and we got a draw, so we believe the team can hold their own against Kwara United.”

Dolphins are currently 12th on the table and will have real relegation worries if they do not pick the three points at stake against Kwara.
