‘Death Of Enyimba TM, A Rude Shock’

Samson Unuanel, the Technical Adviser of Kwara United FC of Ilorin, has described the death of Enyimba FC of Aba’s Team Manager, Anthony ‘Deboy’ Ekwereonu, as a rude shock to him and his family.
The Nigeria Premier League was hit with the sad news when it was reported of his death on Thursday. It would be recalled that ‘Deboy’ as he is popularly called died on 23rd January, at a Dubai, United Arab Emirates hospital after a protracted illness.
Unuanel said on Friday in Ilorin that his death was a great loss to the entire football family in the country and described him as an administrator per excellence.
“I want to send my condolences to his family especially the wife. I pray almighty God give them the fortitude to bear the loss”.
“He was a very good fellow to me while I was with Enyimba, even after I left he would always call and give me advice”.
“He advised me on many occasions not to abandon my coaching career because he believed I can go places, I want to condole with his family, Enyimba FC and the good people of Aba” Unuanel told gongnews.
The late team manager was a successful businessman before he was appointed as an aide to the chairman prior to his elevation to the position of team manager. He died at the age of 56 years.
